Dear Beloveds,
This week I've been thinking about healing our inner child.
Bodies are funny animals...they carry everything, our thoughts, our hidden emotional pain, and the damage from our childhood.
It is the hidden pain in our subconscious, the inner parts of our psyches, that holds the key to deeper healing.
Working with the Inner Child can bring healing...asking her what she wants, finding why she hurts, and taking the time to soothe her pain affects change.
This part of ourselves is often deeply affected both from things in the past and present neglect.
Thus attending to the Inner Child includes working with her childhood pain as well as offering assurance for this present day life.
As you get in touch with your Inner Child see if you can imagine, feel, or know this young part of yourself. See if you can tune in and listen to this inner part of yourself.
Check in with her:
Ultimately the healing comes as you imagine holding her, attending to how she feels, and assuring her you love her.
It can be a long process but over time she will open up, feel safe, and return to her playful aliveness.
And as she heals, you heal. Those vibrant, spontaneous parts of yourself you might have lost will return...
Vulnerability might become safe, play more natural. As in all healing, it takes time, patience, and attention.
In attending to your Inner Child you can reclaim parts of yourself that have been lost and discover a greater passion for life.
