Self Kindness During Difficulty

I am noticing for myself and others it has been an intense time. Many of us are encountering challenging situations where we must work to maintain our inner balance and appropriate action.

We are being pushed to grow and change yet also asked to hold a neutral mind to the difficulty. Indeed it takes a certain focus, intention, and willingness to surrender when the world does not show up as we expected.

Here are some tips for managing your energy when you are stressed, confused, overwhelmed, or in unexpected circumstances.

  • First notice and ask, "Am I physically OK?" If yes, affirm that you are OK. If not, take care of your physical condition.
  • Calm the nervous system with breathing, focus on an object in nature, or do gentle movement.
  • Feel your feelings.
  • Speak kindly to yourself. Offer love and compassion like you would to a loved one while putting your hands on your heart.
  • Hold a neutrality about your situation. Take a wait and see attitude. Choose not to judge it as good or bad.
  • Finally hold an expectancy of an unexpected outcome, of the goodness and blessings that may arise from these happenings.

As you work through whatever is up for you, take exquisite good care of yourself.

Choose to be with loving friends, supportive family, and in nurturing environments.

Step away from commitments that are draining and activities that are unnecessary. 

Give yourself time.

Choose faith. Connect with Spirit.

Finally find your trust

Surrender, knowing  you can't control the world and hold that eventually you will come away from this challenge with greater understanding and self love.
