Getting Messages From Animals

As I was looking out my window recently, I saw a particular type of woodpecker I rarely see here where I presently live. My Guides asked me to find the meaning of Woodpecker Medicine, meaning the message this particular animal brings. Looking it up in "Animal Speaks," I discovered woodpeckers remind us to look at different parts of our lives, to see if we need to change our rhythms, or be more discriminating. This was useful information for me.

Birds and animals often show up bringing us a signal to look at something. Usually this is an opportunity to delve more deeply into how we might need to change or pay attention to some part of our lives.

How do you know when an animal has a message for you?

When you see a bird or animal that is striking to you, whether it is an unusual being for your locale, it's doing something remarkable, or there's just something about it that grabs you, that's the time to tune in and find the wisdom it has for you.

Here are things to look for. Notice:

What did you feel when you saw it?
What was the animal doing?
Was it alone or with others?
Was it moving in a certain direction?
What were you thinking about when you saw it? What have you been contemplating in your life?

By putting these answers together with what the animal means, you can often figure out the message the animal brings. In my case with the woodpecker, I realized I had been feeling stagnant in the way I was scheduling my days. I had to shake it up, find new rhythms and be discriminating about how I spent my time.

And you may have specific animals that are "your animals." In this case you have a remarkable relationship with this species and when they are around you know to watch carefully what they are doing.

I have one client who always sees hawks and considers them her bird. When she sees them she knows she needs to check in and see what message they are bringing.

I have another client who knows when she sees a roadrunner it means good luck for her.

The Crested Caracara is my bird and when I see them I watch which direction they're going and what they are doing to understand what I need to know.

Each person will develop their own language with birds and animals.

The more you deeply attune to these beings and spend time watching and feeling them, the easier it will be to get your messages from them. Enjoy the process!
